Oakley Coaching to deliver advanced communication skills training to students and faculty at the University of South Wales

Rhiannon and Philippa Oakley, Directors of Oakley Coaching, are pleased to announce their second collaboration with the University of South Wales (USW). Their first collaboration with the University in 2021 successfully delivered an innovative lecture series on health coaching, motivational interviewing, and communication skills to undergraduate students as they prepare to take on patient-facing roles.

Professor David Byfield, Head of the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic at USW, comments, “We are pleased to be working with Oakley Coaching again. As a team, we saw the benefits of better communication between students, patients and staff from the outset. We have been encouraged by the impact these skills have had on the students’ interactions with their patients and are delighted to welcome Oakley Coaching back to deliver this advanced training to both our students and faculty members.”

Philippa Oakley, a qualified Chiropractor and Co-Director of Oakley Coaching comments, “As part of the university’s commitment to producing high quality and well rounded professional chiropractors, the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic have seen the benefits of adding specific training on communication skills to their undergraduate curriculum. We are delighted to have the opportunity to deliver this extended scope training programme to both students, faculty members and clinic supervisors to further their understanding of person-centred communication and its impact on outcomes from care. Both student clinicians and clinic supervisors will be learning these skills together, offering a unique and innovative opportunity to make positive changes to their practice as they integrate their newfound skills.”
